Every Monday bring something you enjoy reading to school. This can be a novel, newspaper, drama script, magazine, poem, comic / graphic novel, factual text or whatever you like to read at home. We will spend 20 mins each Monday discussing them. We are really looking forward to hearing all about "The Beano" this Monday
5th and 6th class stations:
5th and 6th class novel book groups:
Group 1: Boy in the Striped Pyjamas: John Boyne Group 2: Under the Hawthorn Tree: Marita Conlon Mc Kenna Group 3: The Guns of Easter: Gerard Whelan Group4: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: C.S Lewis Group 5: Two Degrees: Alan Gratz Group 6: Anne Frank: Susanna Davidson We had great fun in the junior room today! We brought in our teddies and told our class all about our furry friends!
BUDDY CHESS: Our 5th and 6th class pupils taught the junior and senior infants to play chess today. We focused on our pawn game this week. We worked on developing friendships, eye-contact, forward planning, decision making, giving and taking instruction, patience and concentration. Most importantly, we had loads of fun!!
We have displayed our writing samples in 1st and 2nd class and we are very excited for others to read them as they pass through our room. We were motivated to write and try our best as our work would be displayed on our "Wow Board" .
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR MOTTOS FOR THE YEAR AHEAD:
Martin: " Work hard." Ben: "The people who are at their lowest have nowhere to go but up!" Dylan: "If you fall, get back up again" Jessica: "Keep going and never give up" Ríona: " Try, try and try again!" Cillian: "Never give up" Clodagh: "Be brave, be confident, be myself!" Aaron: " Be yourself, everyone else is taken!" Jack: "I can do this!" What a great start with Movement Monday. We had a busy day with a variety of sports and games.
We have been researching The Rights of the Child in our classes. We picked the top 9 most important rights after discussing them in our pairs.
We live streamed the final between Roscommon and Wexford today on our interactive whiteboard. 1st- 6th class watched with bated breath as our past pupil, Eva Daly, scored the first goal of the match! Well done on making it to the Shield Final today!
1st and 2nd class presented their Solar System projects to 5th and 6th. They then took part in a Kahoot quiz with Ms. Comer, using our tablets, to revise what they had learned about the topic, The children demonstrated their knowledge and had loads of fun!
