Halloween Creations in Junior and Senior Infants: Things are getting spooky in Garrafrauns this week!
STEM SHOWCASE: The children from 5th and 6th class showcased their science projects to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. We prepared our presentation and answered questions on the Respiratory System.
Dunmore Library Visit: The children of 5th and 6th class had the pleasure of meeting the author Caroline Busher today. They discussed her novel "The Girl who Ate the Stars". The children prepared illustrations, art pieces and questions for her.
CHESS TOURNAMENT LAUNCH DAY: Mr Coleman launched our chess tournaments from 3rd to 6th class today. We played our first tournament matches.
Wellness Wednesday: Our whole school participated in Walk a Friendship Mile. We chatted to others in different classes. We are developing our coping strategies for stress and anxiety.
PEER TUTORING: We have been using peer tutoring in maths to demonstrate long division and to improve our oral explanation skills in 5th and 6th class
STEM Award: We have started experimenting in the senior classes. We created a model lung which demonstrated the function of the diaphragm.
Art Creations: We are painting and experimenting through the medium of acrylic. We used our English novel "The Girl Who Ate the Stars" as the stimulus for our art pieces.
Oral Language Presentations: We are working on oral language, vocabulary expansion, sentence structure and questioning as part of SSE. Here some of the 5th and 6th class give presentations to the rest of the class working on expression, tone, eye-contact
