Christmas Wreath Making: 5th and 6th class. We really enjoyed our wreath making activity with Monica today. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

Discovery Learning: Solar System Projects 5th and 6th class. We showcased our Solar Systems for the rest of the school today. Have a look at our creative designs!
Science: STEM: Design and build a tower using marshmallows and pasta sticks. The children of 1st and 2nd collaborated with 5th and 6th to design and build towers in groups. We had great fun and made friends along the way! 17/11/22
Poly-tunnel supervisors were hard at work this month weeding the flower beds in preparation for spring planting. 11/11/22
VOCABULARY EXPANSION/ TALKTIME WORDS: We are continuing to develop our vocabulary from a variety of texts in 5th and 6th class. We enjoy playing bingo games with the new words we meet! (Nov 2022)

The children of 5th and 6th class reflected on their September goals and outlined what worked well for them. They then set a realistic goal for October. Have a look at our goal board!
We have been learning about bats in science. We learned what they look like, where they live, what they eat and more interesting facts. To tie in with this we created bat silhouettes using bat templates and sponge painting.
We were also reading the story Zog. The children discussed the story and then created their own dragon. They named their dragon and presented them to their groups.
The children have been having great fun in gymnastics over the last three weeks. They have been learning a lot through fun activities. They are working on their core strength, motor skills and balance. They are also learning to work in groups and pairs as well as working on their listening and co-operation skills.
MATHS WEEK : Look at the creative and imaginative designs from 5th and 6th class. We had great fun constructing robots this week! We measured and calculated the height, width, volume, diameter and radius of various 2D and 3D shapes.

Maths World Cup: Maths Week has started in Garrafrauns N.S. 5th and 6th class took part in an online maths competition today. We had great fun!
GEOGRAPHY: Parts of a River: We have been learning about parts of a river. Have a look at our diagrams where we labelled the source, floodplains, banks, mouth and tributaries.
Dunmore Historical Tour: 5th and 6th class 14/10/22: Thank you to Pat Colman for giving us a guided tour of Dunmore today. We visited the Mission Cross, Sculpted Heads, Men's Shed, Piper Reilly Memorial, Dunmore House and Dunmore Abbey.
