Bunratty Castle Poetry Competition 2019: We have been working on our poetry writing this month and we are entering into the Bunratty Castle Poetry competition. These are some of the entries. Well done on the fantastic effort made by 5th and 6th class!
Poetry Study: 5th and 6th class: We have been discussing the figurative language used in poetry. We now know how to explain personification, onomatopoeia, imagery, mood, theme and rhyme.
Clay Creations in 5th and 6th class: We sketched our clay designs and are now making them out of clay. 5th and 6th class
Reading Fluency Stations have started in 3rd- 6th class. We are taking part in echo- reading, choral reading, modelled reading and round-robin reading. We are working on intonation, fluency, pace and expression.
World Book Day 2019: We participated in modelled reading sessions, working on our fluency and expression. We are also taking part in a reading competition and have recorded all the novels we have read so far. Keep up the great reading!
Ash Wednesday Assembly Prayer Service: We celebrated Ash Wednesday today. 5th and 6th class children read prayers and the 1st and 2nd class children brought up the symbolic gifts. Well done to everyone involved.
Spring has Sprung in Garrafrauns! Thank you to everyone who helped plant our daffodil bulbs last year....they look beautiful! We are also creating our Fairy Garden.
Oral Language: We are working on our oral language this year and are doing Talk Time each week throughout the whole school.
